Family Business of the Year: We’re finalists in North Notts Business Awards 2025!
There is a great spirit within a family business, especially one that spans the generations and has been established for over 50 years. So when we found out that Green Mile Trees had been shortlisted as Finalists in the 2025 North Notts Business Awards, we were extremely proud and excited to share the news with our colleagues and customers.
Success across Nottinghamshire and nationwide
Run by the North Notts BID, the awards focus on promoting local businesses, organisations and communities, instilling local pride and promise.
Sponsors of the Family Business award category, Wright Vigar Chartered Accountants, presented the Finalist certificates to the shortlisted businesses – Durham’s Heating Services, Eyres of Worksop, TEK White Lining and us (see below – Paul and Fay on the left).
The principal award winner will be announced and presented at the Awards Ceremony at North Notts Arena in September. The Deputy Lieutenant, Mr Richard Bond, will be the VIP in attendance, supporting North Notts BID and the finalists. There will be a Charity Raffle whose proceeds will be donated to The From the Heart Charity and The Childrens Bereavement Centre.

Receiving the certificate on behalf of Green Mile, Fay and Paul were very pleased and honoured. Fay, Green Mile Trees’ Accounts Manager, said:
“We’re just stepping into our second half-century and this is a real boost for the whole team and everyone who has contributed over the years to making Green Mile Trees the success it is today.”
A celebration of a family business beyond its 50 year anniversary
Green Mile Trees was started as a nursery in 1973 by Anthony Scott (pictured below with granddaughter Xanthe) on land at Retford, Nottinghamshire. The second and third Scott generations are still very much involved with the business, with Anthony’s son Chris and his granddaughter Xanthe taking the reins. Developing the business from soft-fruit growing to the established tree nursery it is today, the Scotts and their team stock over 50,000 container and field-grown trees, specimen shrubs, instant hedging and conifers and supply private homes, other nurseries, estates and landscapes across the UK.
