Helping to win Gold at Gardeners World Live 2021

Therapeutic garden gains gold

Green Mile Trees help raise awareness of horticultural therapy benefits

Supporting the amazing charitable efforts of Andy Wright, Therapeutic Gardens Manager at DMRC Stanford Hall and his High Ground team, we were more than happy to supply some of our best trees to the Gold-award winning design at this year’s BBC Gardeners World Live event (26-29 August 2021).

The Weeping Pear (Pyrus salicifolia Pendula), Tibetan Cherry (Prunus serrula) and Hazel (Corylus avellana) trees added height and foliage to the show garden that featured with prominence in the Beautiful Borders section of the competing designs.

Make do and Mend

The garden was the brain child of Andy and his High Ground team, a charity that offers support, resources, training and advice to serving military personnel so that they may access opportunities and benefits within the land-based sectors. The border was designed and built with sustainability at its heart and involved a number of patients getting involved in the build and planting as part of their rehabilitation and horticultural therapy.

Green Mile Trees were just one of the garden’s supporters along with Miles Nurseries, Ready Hedge, Middletons Nurseries, Darlac, Mr Fothergills, Vitax and the patients and staff at DMRC Stanford Hall.
