January 2011
Christmas is over, the days are getting longer, and people are getting back into the swing. Including the Green Mile Trees Team! We are already lifting and despatching orders for our many customers.
The big freeze put a stop to things for a couple of weeks; conditions were as hard as anyone at Green Mile can remember, and several of us go back a long way. The ice on the Chesterfield Canal that borders the nursery has supported walkers for weeks now. And we had a fall of more than a foot of snow in one night, which, added to what was already there, put a complete stop to things. Mind you, local customers weren't crying out for immediate delivery. All landscaping work was scuppered.
Let's hope January brings some respite from the extreme weather, for everybody.
We have got lots of great trees in stock, in all sizes from whips to semi-mature specimens. Our range includes native hedging material, ornamental garden and amenity trees, evergreens, fruit trees, multi-stems, advanced hedging stock and more. There are some really good varieties for year round and winter interest, with attractive bark, colourful stems and striking early flowers.
The planting team are already busy. Planting now will give plants time to get settled in and ready to grow once winter is over.
So if you need any quality trees, get in touch. Phone the office on 01777 702422 or fax 01777 860922, or email christopherscott@greenmiletrees.co.uk.
