In the heart of the English countryside, Green Mile Trees have been growing high quality trees for more than 30 years.
The owner, Christopher Scott, has lived at Green Mile all his life. His father, a passionate lover of trees and the countryside, started the business in the early seventies, as part of a mixed farming enterprise. Chris has developed the nursery over the years, and has built a solid reputation for high quality stock and customer service.
We grow one of the biggest ranges of choice ornamental trees in the country. And we do pride ourselves on giving a personal service.
We welcome retail customers. We may not be a garden centre, (no wind chimes or chutney) but for the keen gardener looking for something a bit bigger or a bit unusual we can offer real value for money.
Green Mile stands on a deep sandy loam, ideal for growing nursery stock. The bulk of our trees are still grown in the traditional way in the field. This means that they must be lifted and sold between leaf-fall and bud-break, in the winter, and this is when we still do most of our business. However, in more recent years, we have grown more trees in big containers, to enable our customers to plant bigger trees all year round. These have been very popular with our customers, and we are continually enhancing what we can offer.

If there is a quiet time on a tree production nursery then I suppose its August. The hectic round of jobs that are so urgent in the early summer have been done, well, most of them have, and we are not yet into the stocktaking and preparations for our main despatch season that will start in earnest in September...
