English Yew - Taxus baccata.
Taxus Baccata - Common Yew - 2 metres, shaped
Wonderful hedge. A native conifer, deeply embedded in our heritage and culture. The venerable inhabitant of many a country churchyard, it is also the background to many a bodice-ripping costume drama. However, to us philistine nurserymen, it's a first class hedging plant, tolerating both acid and alkali soils, and dense shade. Close clipping over time encourages very dense, solid growth, ideal for topiary and living sculptures. |
